Seychelles National Qualifications Framework
The relationship between SAQA and the Seychelles Qualifications Authority (SQA) goes back at least to 2004 when Mr Jean-Michel Domingue (then Director Further Education Development), Mr John Lesperance and Ms Marie-Therese Purvis participated in a study visit to learn from the South Africans about the process that had been used to create their framework and to set up SAQA. After the Seychelles Qualifications Authority Act was promulgated in 2005, SAQA participated in the National Conference for the Framework that was held from 20-21 September 2006. Following the initial informal collaborations, the SQA contracted SAQA in 2007 to assist in capacity building to facilitate the establishment of the Seychelles National Qualifications Framework. Although the initial work was completed in 2008, SAQA and the SQA continue to enjoy a close relationship with specific activities in the areas of the evaluation of foreign qualifications, databases and provisioning in the health sector (with support from the HPCSA).
