Notice to applicants for evaluation of foreign qualifications

Notice to applicants for evaluation of foreign qualifications

On 23 March 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a nationwide lockdown from midnight on 26 March to midnight on 16 April to combat the spread of Covid-19. The President urged all residents to stay home for at least 21 days to avoid the potential catastrophic spread of the pandemic in South Africa. As a result, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) will be closed from 16:00 on Thursday, 26 March until the end of the official lockdown.

The lockdown will affect the foreign qualifications evaluation and advisory service as follows:

  • The evaluation service will not be available during this period. Applications that are not processed by the close of business on Thursday, 26 March will only be processed after the lockdown ends.
  • For the duration of the lockdown, clients will not be able to courier physical application packs to SAQA. The offices of both SAQA and its service provider, Postnet, will be closed.
  • The online application system will not be available during this period. Clients will only be able to lodge online applications again after the lockdown.
  • When SAQA reopens after the lockdown new tariffs for the evaluation of foreign qualification, as published on the SAQA website (www.saqa.org.za) will take effect.
