Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity, an oversight body of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Act, No. 67 of 2008. The entity is charged with developing, fostering and maintaining an integrated and transparent national framework for the recognition of learning achievements, ensuring that:
• South African qualifications meet appropriate criteria and are internationally comparable.
• The country’s qualifications are of acceptable quality.
• The quality of education and training is enhanced.
• Access, mobility and progression within education, training and career paths are realised.
SAQA seeks to appoint a Manager: ICT to provide operational leadership in the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of effective information technology systems that support SAQA’s strategy and operational information needs. Reporting to the Senior Manager: ICT, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the operations of the ICT unit.

Reporting to the Senior Manager: ICT, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the operations of the ICT unit.
Requirements are:
Minimum Qualifications
- An appropriate, recognised qualification at NQF Level 7.
- A relevant NQF level 8 qualification will be an advantage.
Minimum Experience
- Six years’ relevant work experience of which 3 years must be in a supervisory role.
- Two years’ experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud/Services.
- Experience and exposure in the Education sector will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) will be an added advantage.

Key performance areas:
Summary of duties
- Aligning the operational plan and business objectives.
- Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring the ICT strategy.
- Ensure high network availability percentage and oversee the backup and recovery success rate.
- Manage and oversee technical support.
- Manage endpoint protection security services, including antivirus and patch management with regular reporting on compliance and system security.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of servers, networks, software, and telecommunications systems.
- Ensure daily operations run smoothly, resolve complex technical issues, and provide technical advice/training.
- Manage and oversee ICT governance processes, including audit and policy implementation.
- Manage and co-ordinate projects and special projects.
- Manage and oversee the Unit’s risk register.
- Develop the budget for the sub-unit.
- Lead, guide and develop ICT staff.
SAQA will verify credit and criminal records as well as qualifications.
