Objective: The South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) is a statutory public entity, an oversight body of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Act, No. 67 of 2008. The entity is charged with developing, fostering and maintaining an integrated and transparent national framework for the recognition of learning achievements, ensuring that:

• South African qualifications meet appropriate criteria and are internationally comparable.
• The country’s qualifications are of acceptable quality.
• The quality of education and training is enhanced.
• Access, mobility and progression within education, training and career paths are realised.

SAQA seeks to appoint a Specialist: Authentication Services to generate and provide information on national and foreign qualification-related matters, collect, analyse, organise and critically evaluate statistics. Reporting to the Manager: Authentication Services, this position will monitor and evaluate the continuous alignment of systems, documents and information.
Requirements are:

Minimum Qualifications

  • An appropriate, recognised qualification at NQF Level 7.
  • A relevant NQF level 8 qualification will be an advantage.

Minimum Experience

  • Three years’ relevant work experience.
  •  Three years’ work experience in the Foreign Qualification evaluation or National Verification
    services will be an added advantage.
  • Experience and exposure in the Education sector will be an advantage.
  •  Proficiency in one or more of the following languages will be a strong advantage: French, Spanish,
    Portuguese, German, or Russian.

Key performance areas:

Summary of duties

  • Assist staff in the technical understanding of verification processes and procedures related to
    foreign and national qualifications.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge frameworks in support of verification and comparison
    operations.
  • Monitor the ongoing availability and efficiency of systems and technology and ensure that these
    are integrated.
  • Provide knowledge-based support to unit’s forums, debates and processes.
  • Generate and provide information on national and foreign qualification related matters to peer units
    within SAQA.
  • Engage in initial contact with clients by offering specialised knowledge of SAQA’s services and
    products.

SAQA will verify credit and criminal records as well as qualifications.
